2014 FIFA World Cup
Teams: Australia V Netherlands
Date: 18 June 2014
Venue: Estadio Beira-Rio
The Netherlands will look to continue with their fine form in the 2014 FIFA World Cup when they take on Australia in their second Group B match at the Estadio Beira-Rio on Wednesday.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 13h00 local time in Porto Alegre, which is 18h00 South African time.
The Dutch got their tournament off to the perfect start with an emphatic 5-1 thumping of Spain in their opening group match.
Both Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben were in fine form as both grabbed a brace against Spain.
Australia, on the other hand, come into this game off the back of a 3-1 loss to Chile in their opening Group B game.
Netherlands top the group with three points and superior goal difference to Chile who are in second place. Australia are third in the group followed by Spain in last place.
A win for the Netherlands will more than likely be enough to see them into the knockout stages of the tournament, but that can only be confirmed later in the day when Chile take on Spain.
Australia and the Netherlands have met on three previous occasions, but surprisingly the Dutch have never beaten the team from ‘Down Under’.
Australia have won once while the other two matches have ended in draws.
Here is how they line up.
Australia: Ryan, Davidson, Cahill, Spiranovic, Leckie, Oar, Jedinak, McKay, Mcgowan, Wilkinson, Bresciano.
Netherlands: Cillessen, Vlaar, De Vrij, Martins Indi, Blind, De Jong, Janmaat, De Guzman, Van Persie, Snejder, Robben.
