Guillermo Ochoa was in inspired form as he helped Mexico hold Brazil to 0-0 draw in their Group A clash at Estadio Castelao.
The result sees Brazil remain in top spot, while Mexico are unchanged in second place.
The first meaningful chance of the game fell to Mexico in the 25th minute, as Hector Herrera's long range effort flew just over the cross, although replays suggest Julio Cesar got the last touch.
Two minutes later and Guillermo Ochao came to Mexico's rescue, as he pulled off a stunning save to keep out Neymar's which was destined for the back of the net.
Ochao was called into action again in the 43rd minute, the Mexican number one came rushing off his line to deny Paulinho from point-blank range.
Herrera came close for Mexico in the 54th minute, as his left-footed strike from 20-yards out flew just over the crossbar.
Substitute Jo, squandered a great chance in the 75th, the striker was played in on goal by Bernard, but he managed to drag his effort wide of the mark.
Jo came even closer in the 86th minute, as his header from six-yards out forced Ochoa into another fine save.
Julio Cesar came to Brazil's rescue in the 90th minute, as he got down well to keep out Jimenez's poweful volley.
The hosts could not find a way past Ochoa, as they were made to settle for a point.
