2014 World Cup
Group A
Half Time: Brazil 1-1 Croatia
Date: 12 June 2014
Venue: Arena de Sao Paulo
An own goal from Marcelo ensured a difficult opening half for Brazil in the first game of the 2014 FIFA World Cup against Croatia, but luckily Neymar came to his rescue as the half ended 1-1 at the Arena de Sao Paulo on Thursday.
It was a fast paced start to the game with the action flowing from end to end, with both sides having their fair share of chances in front of goal.
Brazil, however, were stunned early on after going behind in the 11th minute when Marcelo turned a low left wing cross from Ivica Olic into his own net.
After conceding that early goal Brazil took firm control of the match and began dominating the possession stakes.
Just on the half hour mark Brazil made their pressure tell when star man Neymar equalised with a long range shot.
Brazil continued to dominate the half, but could not add to the scoreline as the stanza ended all-square.
Statistically, Brazil had more attempts on goal with nine shots to Croatia’s four.
