Former Arsenal and Barcelona striker, Thierry Henry, has predicted Brazil to win the World Cup in the summer, and tips Neymar to be the star of the tournament.
The 1998 World Cup Winner told Brazilian channel SporTV he believes the Selecao are the ‘most complete’ national team and recent performances since the Confed Cup have proved their strength.
Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side have won 13 of their past 14 games, including all their matches at the 2013 Confed Cup.
Henry insists it’s no coincidence that France (3-0), Italy (4-2), Spain (3-0) and Portugal (3-1) have all lost to Brazil’s new generation around ‘wonderkid’ kid, Neymar.
“Some ask questions about this Brazil side, if they lack players in certain positions. Not me. I see them the most complete side,” Henry said.
“Since the Confed Cup, the spirit of Brazilians, their style of play, the intensity they put on every ball, shows how good they are.
“Neymar without any doubt will be a key player for this Brazil side, in order to win the World Cup.
“What are the chances of Brazil not winning the World Cup? Beating them looks very hard in my opinion, but in football, everything is possible.”
Henry was echoed by Argentina legend, Diego Maradona, who stated: “If Neymar replicates his usual form, and is the best player at the World Cup then Brazil will probably win the competition.
“Neymar is an extraordinary player. His quality is easy to see. But if his teammates fail to perform, Brazil may not win win the World Cup.”
