Edinho, the son of Brazil football legend, Pele has been sentenced to 33 years in jail for laundering money raised from drug trafficking.
BBC reports that Edinho is likely to appeal the decision by a local judge in the coastal city of Praia Grande, in Sao Paulo state.
He was first arrested in 2005 and has served a sentence for drug trafficking offences and links to drug dealers in Santos.
Edinho’s is Pele’s third son from his first marriage and a retired footballer. Much to Pele’s surprise he played for his father’s boyhood club (Santos) as a goalkeeper and reached the 1995 league final, losing the title to Botafogo.
He works now as a goalkeeper coach at the club and his alleged involvement with drug gangs shocked many people in Brazil.
Pele has visited his son in jail during his first sentence and had declared he believes in his innocence.
Edinho said that his father was his idol.
