Two of their most experienced men, defender Mario Yepes, 38, and goalkeeper Fayd Modragón, 43, the oldest player in the tournament, certainly brought that figure up when compared to the youngest side, Ghana.
The Black Stars with a mixture of golden oldies such as midfielders Michael Essien, 31, Sulley Muntari, 29 and their youthful defender Rashid Sumalia, 21, of Mamelodi Sundowns, ensure Ghana go into the competition with 24.9 years as their mark.
Hosts, Brazil also have a relatively young side, 26.7 years, while Iran and Argentina sit on 28.5 and 28.4 respectively.
