Xavi Slams Sacked Spain Boss Over Real Decision

Xavi Hernandez Slams Sacked Spain Boss Over Real Madrid Decision

By Keegan Kruger - Jun 14, 2018 01:29 PM @KeeganKruger

FC Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has slammed sacked Spain coach Julen Lopetegui's decision to strike a deal with Real Madrid so close to the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Sacked Spain Boss Reacts To Shock Dismissal

On Tuesday, Los Blancos announced that the former La Furia Roja manager would take over at the Santiago Bernabeu after completing his duties with the national side in Russia.

The announcement came as a surprise for the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), and they subsequently sacked Lopetegui on Thursday.

Xavi has now come out in support of the RFEF and its president, Luis Rubiales, saying that the situation was handled correctly.

"The decision of Lopetegui seemed to be untimely, unexpected and hasty, a surprise for everyone," he told MARCA.

"I think that Rubiales has reacted very well, he looked out for the Federation, which must always be above individuals."

The former Spain international also backed the appointment of Fernando Hierro as interim manager of La Furia Roja.

"Hierro is a good person to take over the national team, and he will be very well prepared," Xavi added.

"For me, despite everything that has happened around this episode, Spain remains a strong candidate for the World Cup."

Confirmed: Spain Announce Lopetegui Replacement

The 2010 World Cup winners have been drawn in Group B alongside Portugal, Iran and Morocco.

No wonder barcelona will remain a bunch of SECOND FIDDLE IDIOTS.......How on earth can one be crucified for taking up a new and better job.....whilst commiting to finishing up his remaining task (thus enough respect to his current employer). For any national team, contracts are for coaches achieving WC qualification first (and if they fail, they are likely to be fired)......When they qualify to be in the tornament, certain level achievement is expected (i.e for teams like Spain.....winning it is a must, whilst getting at least to semis its a do or die situation)........(if he fails according to these expectations.....he gets fired). Then given that Julen is not guaranteed a permanet stay at national team level and surely after the World Cup, Spain is EXPECTED to review his contract.......what are they expecting him to do? Wait for the review and possibly get fired whilst Madrid appoints another coach and he misses out? Will waiting for Spain's review pay his bills? With him going to Madrid after the WC, how would that hinder Spain national team in the WC? Has his commitment to the national team changed, just becaused he signed for Madrid the UEFA CL Champions?......How will Spain benefit by firing a coach just before WC tornament? Is this Xavi guy brain damaged also like the rest of the SECOND FIDDLE IDIOTS? Is their mental paraplergy permanent as to see them still parading idiocy even if they have retired?

The rivalry between Madrid and Barcelona is so much that it is difficult to imagine any objectivity in anything said by a player that belongs in any of the two clubs about the opponents.Barca players always criticise Madrid, and vice versa.

Surely that is expected of Xavi. The new coach will of course ride on the preparations by the sacked coach. He's actually said as much

GOOD DECISION AT A WRONG TIME, I KNOW THE COACH WAS STUPID TO SIGN NOW, HE COULD HAVE ASKED MADRID TO WAIT FOR HIM UNTIL AT THE END OF THE WORLD CUP, THEIR TIMING WAS JUST BAD.
