Vinicius Junior's €45 million (R720 million) move from Flamengo to Los Blancos was announced in 2017, but he will only join the Spanish giants after turning 18 on 12 July.
The Brazilian youngster, who is expected to be part of Real's pre-season preparations ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, has now explained why he joined the Santiago Bernabeu-based club.
"Neymar always called me, but I was thinking about what would be best for me and for my career. I had to go to the club where I could evolve more and improve technically," he told Marca.
"Marcelo and Casemiro helped me a lot in the decision. My family too. They visited all the clubs and ended up opting for Real Madrid.
"I had to think very fast and I think I made the right choice. At Madrid, there are Brazilians who will be able to help me on and off the pitch.
"Also, playing with Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos... I have no words to explain what that means to me. Being next to the best is something that I always dreamed of, that's why I chose Real Madrid."
Vinicius scored 10 goals in 48 appearances for Flamengo, and caught the headlines when he won the Golden Boot at the 2017 South American Under-17 Football Championship, netting seven times on Brazil's way to the title.
