The No. 6 jersey is not usually seen as one of the popular shirts in football, with the players who have occupied the number over the years not known for being as flashy as some other famous numbers. There are, however, some stars who have done the shirt incredible justice, with Andres Iniesta being the most recent.
The Spanish midfielder will appear at his third World Cup this year, where the taste of glory is all too familiar. Iniesta was the hero for La Furia Roja in South Africa in 2010, scoring the winner in the final against the Netherlands. Not only was the moment huge for his country, but for the player himself too.
Iniesta battled with depression the season before the 2010 World Cup, after losing his friend to a heart attack in 2009. To celebrate his strike against the Dutch, the FC Barcelona legend lifted his shirt to reveal a vest with the words "Dani Jarque: always with us” written on it.
Another Spanish legend, Fernando Hierro, wore the No. 6 jersey, as did Italy icon Franco Baresi. The former defender was capped on 81 occasions for the Azzurri, and won the FIFA World Cup in 1982, while he was also a runner-up in 1994.
Brazil icon Bebeto is another player who wore the number at the showpiece, as was his countryman Roberto Carlos. The former Selecao left-back, who celebrated winning the tournament in 2002, is one of the highest capped Brazil players of all time.
Carlos, a former Real Madrid star, represented his nation on 125 occasions over a 16-year period, and is still widely regarded as one of the most iconic fullbacks in football history.
