After knocking South Africa out in the qualifiers, Senegal coach Aliou Cisse has announced his 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and there were some surprise exclusions.

The Lions of Teranga were drawn alongside Poland, Japan and Colombia in Group H, and have an excellent opportunity to reach the knockout stage of the competition should all go well.
Liverpool's Sadio Mane, Everton's Idrissa Gueye and Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly are some of the big guns Cisse has called up to his squad, while Crystal Palace defender Pape Souare, striker Oumar Niasse and Cardiff City star Armand Traore were snubbed.
Cisse's team will prepare for the World Cup with two friendlies, the first against Luxembourg on 31 May and the second against Croatia on 8 June.
