After contrasting fortunes in their opening games at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, a Portugal star has insisted that one cannot compare Lionel Messi to Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Real Madrid superstar scored an incredible hat-trick in his side's 3-3 draw with Spain last Friday, while Messi failed to convert a penalty and saw his team draw 1-1 with European minnows Iceland.
Leicester City and A Selecao midfielder Adrien Silva, who is yet to make an appearance in a World Cup, believes the two players should not be compared.
"You can't compare Messi with Ronaldo," he said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
"We have a leader, he's with us, and he must do what he must do. He has to help us as best as he can.
"Apart from everything else, he sets a good example for all of us to follow. Not only during the game but with how he behaves and what sort of person he is."
Ronaldo's treble was the 51st in the history of the competition, and it also saw him become only the fourth player to score in four different editions of the tournament.
