Les Bleus were rampant in their 4-3 victory over the Albiceleste this weekend, during which the likes of Pogba and Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe stole the show.

While the 19-year-old forward got on the scoresheet twice, Pogba put in a dominant performance in midfield, proving hard for the Argentines to handle.

The United player, however, paid his respects to Messi after the match, saying that the Blaugrana man will forever be one of his greatest footballing idols.

"We have played against the best player in the world (Messi)," Pogba said, according to Sport.

"I've been watching him for 10 years to learn from him.

"He makes me love football. He's always going to be an idol for me."

Despite assisting two goals, Messi did not see a lot of the ball in Argentina's loss to France, and was also unable to find the back of the net himself.

It remains a mystery why the coach did not play to their strength, because it was in attack.

@KhothaKhosi Argentina could have won the World Cup, although defensively they were frail but they possess a lethal strike force

Great words from Pogba........he seems to have matured as a player and a person...........If Mbappe uses Messi as a role-model his future will be bright.

@KhothaKhosi They were not allowed to play to their potential. It is the WC, so teams like Russia, Iceland etc. lift their game by 500% or more.....that's what makes the world cup great!

One just has to wonder why Argentina did not play to their true potential in this world cup. Was it too cold for them in Russia? I mean strikers like Higuain and Aguero are the best in the world but were not so imperessive in Russia 2018. Why was that?
