The Egyptians conceded in injury time to lose 2-1 to Saudi Arabia on Monday, and crashed out of the tournament without collecting a single point from their three group games in Russia.
Salah, who was seemingly rested for his country's opening game against Uruguay after returning from a shoulder injury, thanked the team's supporters for coming out in numbers and vowed to improve for the 2022 showpiece.
"We want to apologise to all the Egyptian fans, who came to support us here in the three matches," he said after the match, according to beIN SPORTS.
"I know it is difficult for them, like us. Just want to say that Egypt reached the World Cup after 28 years, some players here do not have the required experience, thanks to all of them and we will back again in 2022."
Salah made two appearances for Egypt at the World Cup, and found the back of the net twice.
