Mexico Star Lashes Out At Neymar's Play-Acting

A frustrated Mexico international has slammed Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar for his play-acting in Brazil's 2-0 win over El Tri at the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Monday.

Defender Miguel Layun, who was involved in a controversial incident with the Brazilian in the second half of the match, appeared to step on the forward's ankle while trying to collect the ball.

However, Neymar reacted dramatically to the light contact from the North American, writhing around on the turf before receiving treatment and returning to the field.

After the match, Layun hit out at the 26-year-old, suggesting that he is more concerned about his acting on the field than the game itself.

"This is football. If he does not want to be touched, he should try doing something else," he said, according to

"He is more concerned about being on the floor. If he wants to lie down, he should go home and sleep.

"He was down, and I touched him looking for the ball, I know all about his talents, but I also know his tricks.

"We know Neymar, and he likes to be the protagonist on and off the field. It is obvious,

"Anyone who has seen the game knows exactly what I am referring to. He is like that. His personality is like that. You have to leave that aside and wish him the best like always.

"I think he is a player with a lot of talent who hopefully one day dedicates himself to playing a little more. The truth is he would be more spectacular if he devoted himself more to playing football instead of doing other things.

"Ultimately, I think that is what's important. I think maybe he was a bit worried and that was his way of getting rid of the stress he had."
