Despite superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo exiting the 2018 FIFA World Cup early, both forwards are among the nominees for scoring the best goal of the tournament!
FIFA announced via their website that fans will be given the opportunity to vote for the best goal of the 2018 World Cup, an award that two of the best players in world football are competing for, among others such as France's Benjamin Pavard and Spain's Nacho Fernandez.
Messi earned himself a nomination for his sublime strike against Nigeria in the group stage, after his run into the box was picked out by midfielder Ever Banega.

Ronaldo is also a candidate for the award for his free-kick goal against Spain in Portugal's opening match of the competition. Not only did his late strike earn a point for his country, it also rounded off an incredible hat-trick for the player.
