In the build-up to France’s round of 16 clash with Argentina on Saturday, a Les Bleu star has come out and praised Lionel Messi claiming that he can do “everything”.
The 31-year-old netted his first goal of the 2018 FIFA World Cup against Nigeria, as the La Albiceleste beat the Super Eagles 2-1 in their final Group D match.
Messi, who is yet to hit top form in Russia, has been on the receiving end of lots of criticism, but France goalkeeper Steve Mandanda says he is well aware of what the five-time Ballon d’Or winner can produce on any given day.
"We need to defend well, close to each other, even though Messi can do everything," the 33-year-old said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
"We know that we are warned. We have players in our team who played a few times with him or against him in LaLiga.
"We know what we would expect on Saturday, but we have the weapons to defend well and to hurt them."
The Blaugrana star has made 126 appearances for Argentina and scored 65 goals, according to FIFA.
