The Portuguese, who are considered by many to be a dark horse in this year's competition, have been drawn in Group B alongside Spain, Morocco and Iran.

Manager Fernando Santos is expected to adopt an old-school 4-4-2 formation for the competition, but may shift to a 4-3-3 depending on the situation.

Former Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patrício is expected to be his country's No. 1 for the tournament. The 30-year-old is currently a free agent but has been linked to a move to Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.

At the back, Santos is expected to use his two most experienced centre-backs from the start of the tournament: Besiktas' Pepe and Rangers' Bruno Alves. Joining them down the flanks should be Cedric Soares of Southampton and Borussia Dortmund star Raphael Guerreiro.

The two central midfielders are likely to be Monaco's Joao Moutinho and Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho, who is currently linked with Arsenal and West Ham United. On the left-hand side of midfield, we could see the Hammers' Joao Mario, while Manchester City star Bernardo Silva is expected to play down the right.
