Argentina legend Diego Maradona has sent a message to superstar Lionel Messi, who has so far struggled at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The FC Barcelona talisman failed to score in Argentina's first two Group D matches, and missed a penalty in their first fixture, against Iceland
The 31-year-old was also unable to inspire the Albiceleste in their 3-0 loss to Croatia last week Thursday, but Maradona, who has already showed his support for the No. 10 since, has again insisted that Messi is not the reason for his country's poor form.
"To Leo, I would like to speak with you and tell you that you are not to blame for anything," he said, according to Sport.
"Absolutely nothing is your fault. I love you and I respect you like always."
To qualify from Group D, Argentina need to beat Nigeria on Tuesday night, and hope that Iceland fail to beat Croatia.
There has also been speculation of unrest in the Argentina camp, although in a recent press conference, manager Jorge Sampaoli suggested there has been no attempt from the team to overthrow his leadership.
