Pictures of the great Maradona did the rounds across all social media platforms on Tuesday night, as well as videos of the 57-year-old appearing worse for wear.
Following Argentina’s dramatic win that saw them qualify for the round of 16, it was rumoured that the 1986 World Cup winner was taken to hospital amid concerns over his health.
Maradona, though, has shut down those reports in a Facebook post, insisting that medical professionals attended to him because he hurt his neck.
"I want to tell everyone that I am fine, that I am not, nor was I, hospitalised," he wrote on his official Facebook page, according to Sportskeeda.
"At half-time of the game against Nigeria, my neck hurt a lot and I suffered a decompensation.
"I was checked by a doctor and he recommended that I leave before the second half, but I wanted to stay because we were playing for everything. How could I leave?
"I send a kiss to everyone. Thanks for the support."
Lionel Messi and his teammates will go up against France in the next round of the tournament, and could face the winner of Uruguay against Portugal, if they would make it to the next round.
