Uruguay secured top spot in Group A at the 2018 World Cup as Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani were on target to lead them to a 3-0 win over Russia.
The Uruguayans looked lively in the early stages of the encounter, as Matías Vecino went close to scoring with a strike from distance.
Uruguay were rewarded for their early dominance when Luis Suarez bagged his second goal of the tournament with a fine free-kick on 10 minutes to make it 1-0.
It was 2-0 to the South Americans after 23 minutes as Diego Laxalt's shot from distance took a deflection off Denis Cherysev and sailed into the back of the net.
Things went from bad to worse for the tournament hosts when they were reduced to 10 men when Igor Smolnikov picked up his second yellow card after 36 minutes.
Russia could not recover from the red card incident and struggled to carve out a chance in the remaining stages of the second half.
The Uruguayans picked up from where they left off in the first half as they went in search of more goals against a 10-man Russian outfit that looked depleted.
Edinson Cavani, who has had a quiet tournament, nearly bagged his first goal with a strike from distance that sailed just wide of Roman Akinfeev's goal in the 69th minute.
Despite being a man down, Russia should have reduced the deficit in the 76th minute but Artum Dzuyba could not slot home after an error from Muslera in the box.
Uruguay continued to pile on the pressure in the closing stages of the game, with Giorgian De Arrascaeta, Christian Rodriguez and Cavani going close to scoring.
Cavani finally got his goal in the 90th minute with a simple finish from close range after Akinfeev had saved Diego Godin's header, 3-0.
