Croatia finished top of Group D after defeating Iceland 2-1 in their final group game at the 2018 World Cup.
The Croatians settled in well in the early stages, although they struggled to carve out chances in the final third.
For all of Croatia's dominance, Iceland did pose a real threat on the counter attack but they were let down by their decision-making in the final third of the pitch.
Iceland did go close to breaking the deadlock on 31 minutes as Gylfi Sigurdsson saw his curling free-kick cleared off the line by goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic.
With Five minuets remaining in the half, Iceland had another go at Kalinic's goal as Alfred Finnbogason's effort from distance sailed inches wide of the upright.
Croatians broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute after a good start to the second half thanks to a strike from Milan Badelj, who had struck the woodwork moments earlier.
Sigurdsson went close to pulling Iceland level the 69th minute as he skipped a challenge before firing just over the crossbar.
Iceland were then awarded a penalty after 72 minutes following a handball in the box. Sigurdsonn stepped up and made no mistake from the spot to level matters.
Heimir Hallgrímsson's pushed for a winning goal in the closing stages of the second half, but they were unable to carve out another opening.
However, Croatia snatched the win in the 90th minute as Badelj turned provider to pick out Ivan Perisic, who slotted home to seal three points and top spot in Group D.
