FIFA World Cup, Group B
Teams: Portugal vs Morocco
Date: 20 June 2018
Venue: Luzhniki Stadium
Portugal began their World Cup campaign with a thrilling 3-3 draw with Spain, during which captain Ronaldo scored an incredible hat-trick, including a fantastic free-kick in the final few minutes of the game.
A loss for Morocco on Wednesday will almost certainly see their hopes of qualification to the next round squashed following their 1-0 loss to Iran in their first game of the tournament.
Fernando Santos' side go into the clash as the heavy favourites after their performance against La Furia Roja, although the Portugal coach will want to guard against complacency.
A Selecao head into the Group B clash having hit the back of the net at least twice in nine of their past 10 World Cup games (including qualifiers), while they are also unbeaten in those 10 matches.
Prior to Morocco's loss to Iran on Friday, the African nation were unbeaten in five games, a run that they might be looking to draw inspiration from.
Ronaldo, however, will be a difficult player to tame following his heroics against the Spaniards last week, when he gave an individual performance that is already being considered as one of the best in World Cup history.
One more international goal for the 33-year-old will see him become the highest goalscorer of all time for European nations, and considering the form he is in, this is more than just a possibility.
Ronaldo has struck 23 times in his past 18 matches for his country, with 15 of those goals coming in World Cup qualification.
Morocco and Portugal have met just once prior to Wednesday's clash, with the African giants beating their opposition 3-1 in the group stage at the 1986 World Cup. Incidentally, that was also Morocco's first ever win at the tournament.
Here is how the teams will line up:
Portugal: Patricio, Cedric, Pepe, Fonte, Guerreiro, Bernardo Silva, Moutinho, Carvalho, Fernandes, Guedes, Ronaldo
Morocco: Mohamedi, Dirar, Da Costa, Benatia, Hakimi, El Ahmadi, Boussoufa, Belhanda, Harit, Boutaib, Ziyech
