Manchester United and Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero sadly picked up a knee injury during his country's training camp a few weeks back. According to The Independent, the Argentine will be out for five to six weeks, meaning he would miss the entire World Cup.

Brazil veteran Dani Alves will miss this year's showpiece after he picked up an anterior cruciate ligament injury. As per the Daily Star, the right-back was injured in the final of the Coupe de France, and sadly will not be ready in time for the global competition. Alves is joined by France's Laurent Koscielny, Serbia's Matija Nastastic and English starlet Joe Gomez in this backline.

Some high-profile midfielders will miss out on Russia 2018, and the biggest, according to The Express, is France international Dimitri Payet. The attacking midfielder sadly picked up a hamstring injury in the UEFA Europa League final. The players joining the former West Ham United star in this midfield are Danilo Pereira of Portugal and England's Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain.

The front line consists of Denmark bad boy Nicklas Bendtner, Germany international Lars Stindl and Russian superstar Aleksandr Kokorin.
