This time out we can look forward to seeing several young announce themselves on the international stage, such as France striker Kylian Mbappe, who at 19 years old will be one of the youngest players at the tournament. It easy to forget the Paris Saint-Germain is still a teenager, especially considering he cost his club around £162 million.

Mbappe has already worn the famous Les Bleus shirt on 15 occasions for the senior side, in which he has found the back of the net four times and assisted a further five strikes.

Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus will also appear at his first World Cup this year, following a successful season and a half at Manchester City. The 21-year-old has made a superb start to his international career, scoring 10 goals in 17 caps.

Many are also excited to see what 20-year-old Marcus Rashford can conjure up with England in Russia, while the likes of France’s Ousmane Dembele and Belgium’s Youri Tielemans, who are both 21 years old, will also be looking to make their mark on the tournament.

Real Madrid and Spain attacker Marco Asensio will play a vital role for his country, while 22-year-old Timo Werner will be looking to lead to champions Germany.

Argentina winger Cristian Pavón and Mexico’s Hirving Lozano are also two young and talented attacking players going to the World Cup, while many will get a first proper look at Serbia’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has been linked with the Red Devils and Real.

The 23-year-old midfielder has gained loads of plaudits for his displays at Lazio in this past season, and might look to show exactly why some of Europe’s biggest teams are in for his signature.
