FC Barcelona superstar Messi will reportedly be the highest earning player in Russia, with the Argentina skipper believed to earn a weekly wage of £500 000 (R8.7 million) in Spain.

There will be a lot of pressure on the 30-year-old forward, who many believe needs a World Cup trophy to be considered as the greatest player of all time – a title many have given him.

Second on the list is Neymar, who will be playing at his second World Cup with the Selecao. The 26-year-old is said to be earn £445 000 (R7.8 million) a week at Paris Saint-Germain, where his future remains uncertain.

Ronaldo follows the Brazilian with his reported wage of £365 000 (R6.4 million), but the latest reports suggest the Real Madrid man is not happy with his earnings.

The Portuguese international reportedly feels he is worth an improved contract that president Florentino Perez is believed to have promised him.

Germany and Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil is said to earn £300 000(R5.2 million) a week in England, while Barca’s Luis Suarez and Manchester United’s Paul Pogba are both reportedly on a wage of £290 000 (R5 million).

Kylian Mbappe follows Pogba on £262 000 (R4.6 million) a week at PSG, ahead of Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku. The United man earns £250 000 (R4.3 million) a week in England, which sees him lie eighth on the list.

Brazil and Blaugrana midfielder Philippe Coutinho is second last on the list with his earnings of £240 000 (R4.2 million), followed by Spain and Manchester City superstar David Silva on £220 000 (R3.8 million).
