With rumours linking Matthijs de Ligt with the likes of Manchester United, FC Barcelona and Juventus, the 19-year-old has now revealed what Juve superstar Cristiano Ronaldo told him after the UEFA Nations League final, leaving him in shock.
The Portugal captain lifted his second international trophy with A Selecao after beating the Netherlands 1-0 in the final on Sunday night.
In the aftermath of the game, Ronaldo and De Ligt were seen chatting and laughing, and the Dutchman was later questioned about this exchange.
Asked if Ronaldo had told him to join Juventus in this transfer window, De Ligt seemingly confirmed that he did.
"That could be true, yes. I didn't understand him at first. I was a little shocked, so I laughed, but I didn't say anything," he said, as quoted by AS.
"Shortly after the game you are not at all concerned with it, you are disappointed you have lost and that is the only thing you are thinking about."

De Ligt also revealed that he will now go on holiday before making a decision on his future.
"I will first go on a nice vacation and rest. I will let it happen and then I will see," he added.
The Dutchman has been linked with a host of clubs, including United, Bayern Munich and Juventus, among others, but the latest reports suggest that Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are the two sides he is closest to joining.
It has been claimed that PSG are prepared to offer him a massive salary package, one that is a lot better than Barca's offer, but the Catalan giants will be hoping he chooses to join them for footballing reasons.
