This year saw a Premier League side break the Spanish stranglehold on the competition as the Red Devils became the first English club to lift the trophy in four years.

There is no surprise that the squad is dominated by the Old Trafford club, with Mourinho’s Red Devils having eight players in it, while Ajax Amsterdam, Celta Vigo and Lyon all have three representatives each.

Here is UEFA's 2016/17 Europa League Squad of the Season:

Goalkeepers: Sergio Alvarez (Celta Vigo), Sergio Romero (Manchester United)

Defenders: Eric Bailly (Manchester United), Gustavo Cabral (Celta Vigo), Jeremy Morel (Lyon), Matthijs De Ligt (Ajax Amsterdam), Daley Blind (Manchester United), Antonio Valencia (Manchester United)

Midfielders: Pablo Hernandez (Celta Vigo), Ander Herrera (Manchester United), Paul Pogba (Manchester United), Youri Tielemans (Anderlecht), Corentin Tolisso (Lyon), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Manchester United), Amin Younes (Ajax Amsterdam)

Forwards: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Manchester United), Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon), Bertrand Traore (Ajax Amsterdam)

This squad was selected by a special technical panel that comprised Cristian Chivu (Romania), Stefan Majewski (Poland), Mixu Paatelainen (Finland), Sir Alex Ferguson, Ioan Lupescu and Dejan Stankovic (UEFA).
