A Wolfsburg star had an altercation with Real Madrid's Marcelo during their UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday night, and has now revealed what really happened between them.
Midfielder Maximilian Arnold scored the German side's second goal to secure an important win against the Spanish giants in the first leg of the tie, but it was not just that strike he was involved in.
The 21-year-old squared up to Los Blancos fullback Marcelo in the middle of the second half, earning himself a yellow card in the process, and Arnold revealed to reporters after the match that he had heckled the Brazilian about his hair.
"Winning 2-0 is great and we have a chance of reaching the next round now," he said, according to Sky Sports.
"What happened with Marcelo? I told him that I wanted to have beautiful hair like him.
"Things like this are part of football. Everything is forgotten after the match."
Real will host Wolfsburg in the second leg next week Tuesday, when they will look to turn the tie around.
Arnold has played 117 times for Wolfsburg’s senior team, scoring 19 goals and assisting a further 10 strikes since his debut.
