UEFA Champions League
Teams: Sevilla v Manchester United
Date: 21 February 2018
Venue: Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan
The Red Devils have never met the hosts, who sit in fifth spot in LaLiga, in European competitions. United, though, will hope to follow in the footsteps of Leicester City, who knocked Sevilla out of the competition at the same stage last season after beating them 3-2 on aggregate.
Their elimination from the 2016/17 competition was Sevilla’s third knockout at the round of 16 and they have never progressed further in the UCL.
United, meanwhile, enter their tenth last 16-tie, having won six and lost three so far. However, it’s the first time in four years that the English giants have reached this stage of the competition and Mourinho will be keen add onto his personal record against Sevilla.
The Portuguese won seven of his previous eight games against Sevilla - all during his time at Real Madrid. His new club have faced LaLiga clubs 50 times in European competitions and won 13, while drawing 20 and losing 17 of the games.
Their away record is even worse, with United only winning three of 23 games away from home against Spanish sides.
Here’s how the two teams will line up:
Sevilla: Rico, Jesus Navas, Mercado, Lenglet, Escudero, Nzonzi, Banega, Sarabia, Vazquez, Correa, Muriel.
Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Lindelof, Smalling, Young, Matic, McTominay, Herrera, Mata, Sanchez, Lukaku.
