UEFA Champions League
Result: Sevilla 1-2 Bayern Munich
Date: 03 April 2018
Venue: Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán
Bayern Munich came from behind to register a 2-1 win over Sevilla in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday evening.
The Bavarians enjoyed plenty of possession in the early exchanges, while the likes of Mats Hummels and Thomas Muller went to close to scoring in the opening 10 minutes.
Sevilla should have taken the lead on 20 minutes when Hummels' failed clearance fell to Pablo Sarabia, who fired horribly wide from close range.
However, he made up for his miss as he gave the hosts the lead on 32 minutes with a clinical left-footed strike past Sven Ulreich.
Sevilla's lead only last five minutes, though, as parity was restored when Jesus Navas deflected Franck Ribery's cross into his own net.
Both sides pushed for a second goal in the remaining stages of the half, but it remained 1-1 at the break.
Bayern took control from the onset in the second stanza and they eventually went ahead in the 68th minute through Thiago Alcantara, who headed home Ribery's cross.
With 12 minutes remaining, Sevilla introduced Sandro Ramirez for Joaquin Correa as they pushed for an equaliser.
The hosts nearly pulled a goal back in the 82nd minute when Sarabia's scuffed strike landed at the feet of Steven N'Zonzi, who dragged his effort inches wide of the upright.
That proved to be the final chance of the game as the Bavarians held on for the slim win.
