PSV Come From Behind To Beat Man United
UEFA Champions League - Group B
Result: PSV 2-1 Manchester United
Date: 15 September 2015
Venue: Philips Stadion
Manchester United lost their UEFA Champions League Group B opener 2-1 at PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils were dealt a hefty blow in the 14th minute when Luke Shaw went down in the PSV area under Moreno's strong tackle. The full-back seemed to be in considerable pain after the collision and received treatment for 10 minutes before being stretchered off the pitch, with Marcos Rojo replacing him.
The game saw its opening goal in the 41st minute as United broke the deadlock. Blind sent a brilliant through-ball to Memphis Depay who beat Arias and Bruma before slotting it past Zoet to score against the club he left to join United.
However, the score was level again only a few minutes later as the hosts equalised on the stroke of half-time. Lestienne swung in a corner kick that found Hector Moreno who beat Darmian to send the ball into the back of the net after deflecting off Blind.
PSV were leading for the first time in the 57th minute when Luciano Narsingh beat David de Gea with a bouncing header from six yards out after a splendid cross from Lestienne who powered down the left flank to set up the goal.
Luis van Gaal's charges bossed the game for extended periods and took control yet again after conceding the second goal, but their determined effort was negated by PSV's stubborn and well-organised defence.
