UEFA Champions League - Group A
Result: PSG 2-0 Malmo
Date: 15 September 2015
Venue: Parc des Princes
Paris Saint-Germain made the perfect start to their UEFA Champions League campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win over Malmo on Tuesday.
The Parisians wasted no time in taking the lead as they were in front after only four minutes. Verratti created the opening as he sent Angel Di Maria through on goal and the Argentine found the top corner of the visitors' net from a tight angle.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic also made his presence felt in the 22nd minute. Di Maria provided the pass towards the far post and the Swede attempted a back-heel volley at goal but the keeper did well to deny him.
The hosts were fortunate not to concede an equaliser four minutes later. Silva and Luiz collided in the box as they went for the ball in the air. The cross fell for Rosenberg who tucked it away but the referee blew for a foul from the striker, disallowing the goal.
Di Maria was in fatastic form on the night and came close to doubling the home side's lead in the 52nd minute. Ibrahimovic took possession of the ball and layed it off for the Argentine who curled a shot on goal, but a save from Wiland kept it out.
Just past the hour mark PSG found their second goal as Edinson Cavani put his name in lights. Maxwell's cross from the left was flicked on by Ibrahimovic and Cavani was on hand to head home at the far post.
