Arsenal Clinch Draw In Thrilling Paris Tie

UEFA Champions League
Result: PSG 1-1 Arsenal
Date: 13 September 2016
Venue: Parc des Princes
Arsenal came away with a 1-1 result from their UEFA Champions League clash at Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
The French outfit made the perfect start to the clash as Edinson Cavani opened the scoring in the first minute. Serge Aurier crossed from the right and Cavani beat the two centre-backs to head the ball home.
It should have been two-nil in the 13th minute. Angel Di Maria was left open in the middle of the box to get on the end of a corner kick but David Ospina pulled off a terrific save.
Cavani had a sitter presented to him in the 34th minute when a poor touch from Nacho Monreal put him through on goal. He rounded Ospina but then somehow missed the open goal.
The Gunners got back into the game around the hour mark. Great interplay between Alexis Sanchez and Iwobi opened PSG up, but a last-ditch tackle from Marquinhos snuffed out the danger.
Cavani was one-on-one with Ospina again after a few unlucky deflections from Arsenal, but the goalkeeper was brilliant as he rushed off his line to save.
Arsenal were rewarded for their determination as they found their equaliser in the 77th minute. The initial shot from Iwobi was well saved but the rebound fell for Sanchez who hit it into the ground to bounce into the back of the net.
Alex Iwobi threatened to grab a late winner for the visitors as he got on the end of Sanchez's through-ball, but Alphonse Areola was up to the task and made the crucial stop.
The clash ended on a negative as Olivier Giroud and Marco Verratti were shown their second yellow cards, meaning they will miss their respective sides' next Champions League encounter.
