Result: Manchester City 1-0 Feyenoord
Date: 21 November 2017
Venue: Etihad Stadium
A late Raheem Sterling goal saw Manchester City claim a narrow 1-0 victory over Feyenoord in a UEFA Champions League tie on Tuesday night.
After applying pressure early on in the game, City came closest in the 20th minute through Sergio Aguero, who was through on goal but his effort was kept out by Brad Jones.
Raheem Sterling glided past the Feyenord defence before playing through Bernardo Silva whose effort was saved by Jones from close range, keeping the scores level after 36 minutes.
Despite City’s dominance in possession, chances were few and far between as the teams went into the halftime break tied at 0-0.
The second half took the same shape as that of the first with City being in control of the game’s proceedings.
Bernardo Silva found Kevin De Bruyne at the far post, but the Belgian's effort went over the bar in the 50th minute.
Pep Guardiola tried to shake things up for his team by introducing Gabriel Jesus in place of De Bruyne with half an hour left on the clock.
Ederson Moraes was called into action in the 68th minute when he made a save from close range to deny Steven Berghuis as the teams were still level with 22 minutes remaining.
City finally broke the deadlock with two minutes remaining through a composed Sterling finish which ensured the Manchester club collected maximum points and secured top spot in their group.
