Bayern Munich showed their class against Besiktas as they registered a 5-0 win in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last 16 tie.
The Bavarians threatened early on in the first half, with Thomas Muller and Kingsley Coman going close in the opening 11 minutes.
Six minutes later, Besiktas were reduced to 10 men when Domagoj Vida was shown a straight red card for taking out Robert Lewandowski as the last man.
The Bundesliga outfit were in full control in the opening stanza although they had little to show for it as the Besiktas defence remained resolute.
However, Bayern had to wait until the 44th minute for the opening goal when Muller bundled the ball home, following a cross from Coman.
10 minutes into the second half, Bayern doubled their advantage as Lewandowski unselfishly teed up Coman to slide the ball home from the penalty spot.
Bayern showed no signs of slowing down and bagged a third goal in the 67th minute when Muller completed his brace by turning home Joshua Kimmich's cross.
With 12 minutes remaining, Lewandowski got his name on the scoresheet with a close range finish to put the home side four goals up.
The Polish striker completed his brace in the 89th minute as Muller turned provider to tee up the 29-year-old for the simple finish, 5-0.
