Chelsea Held By Resilient Kiev

UEFA Champions League

Group G

Full Time: Dynamo Kyiv 0-0 Chelsea

Date: 20 October 2015

Venue: NSK Olimpiyski Stadium

Dynamo Kyiv frustrated Chelsea in their UEFA Champions League, Group G match as they were held to a 0-0 draw at the NSK Olimpiyski Stadium on Tuesday night.

Chelsea started the better of the two teams when Eden Hazard saw his effort from just inside the box strike the upright before bouncing away from danger.

In the 25th minute some great individual skill from Nemanja Matic saw him create space for himself just outside the box, but his thunderous effort went narrowly wide of the target.

Ten minutes later Gary Cahill met a corner-kick with a strong header, but he saw his ten-yard attempt brilliantly saved by the Kyiv keeper.

The half ended 0-0.

Two minutes after the break Willian nearly opened the scoring for Chelsea, but he saw his 24-yard free-kick rattle against the crossbar.

Five minutes later Cesc Fabregas received a low pass just outside the box and drilled a fine strike towards goal, but saw his attempt magnificently palmed away by Oleksandr Shovkovsky.

Kyiv created their first real chance on goal only in the 70th minute when Domagoj Vida powered an 18-yard shot narrowly over the crossbar.

Ten minutes later Kyiv were at it again when Derlis Gonzalez met a precise pass with a nice touch on the edge of the box and produced a shot on goal, but the Chelsea keeper was up to the task.

Neither side could find a winner as the points were shared in the 0-0 draw.

The result sees Chelsea siting in third place in Group G with four points from three games while Kyiv are in second place with five points from their three games.

FC Porto top group with seven points while Maccabi Tel Aviv are bottom with zero points.
