UEFA Announce UEFA Champions League Squad Of The Season, Snub African Superstar

UEFA have announced their official squad of the 2017/18 Champions League campaign, and snubbed an African superstar as well as the one of this season's record-breakers.

A coaching panel, which included former Manchester United boss David Moyes, selected the 18-man squad of the season, but there was no space for Sadio Mane and James Milner.

Mane equalled Mohamed Salah's record as the African with most goals in a single Champions League campaign after scoring Liverpool's equaliser in Saturday's 3-1 final defeat to Real Madrid, his 10th UCL goal this season.

His teammate Milner broke the record for the most assists in a Champions League campaign, setting his colleagues up nine times in 2017/18, yet neither neither the Englishman nor Mane were named in the official UCL Team of the Season.

In fact, only three Liverpool stars made the selection, namely Roberto Firmino, Virgil van Dijk and Salah. Meanwhile, the Reds' opponents in the final, Los Blancos, who lifted their third straight trophy, had eight players in the squad. In Cristiano Ronaldo, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Marcelo, Sergio Ramos and Keylor Navas, eight of Zinedine Zidane's starting XI for the final were chosen.

AS Roma, with Alisson and Edin Dzeko, and Bayern Munich, with James Rodriguez and Joshua Kimmich, each have two representatives in UEFA UCL Squad of the Season, while Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini, Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne and FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi were also selected.

Jerzy Engel, Thomas Schaaf, Mixu Paatelainen, Peter Rudbaek and Cristian Chivu were the other UEFA technical observers on the coaching panel that selected the squad.

This is madness, racism @ its best here I mean Mane ran his socks off throughout the campaign and he even scored in the final and he was also second best behind Ronaldo but not to be selected? This panel is just full of hatred and racism!!!!!!!!!!! No wonder why this Moyes failed @ United he doesn't have an eye for talent.

Being realistic and not thinking or rating Messi arguably as world greatest in football he doesn't deserve to be there. For the fact that his the only player for Barcelona tells u something, they just chose him because of who he is not by judging how he performed on this tournament. Messi doesn't deserve to be there, Mane deserves it just being fair!

People might question as to why Messi is selected....Messi will always be in anyone’s dream team with or without kicking a ball, even Real are known admirers. People must learn to live with it!
