Real Madrid secured their spot in the Last 16 of the UEFA Champions League with a 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The visitors were dealt a blow in the 17th minute when midfielder, Marco Verratti, picked an injury and was replaced by Adrien Rabiot.
The French side created the first opening in the 21st minute when Serge Aruier teed up Blaise Matuidi, who fired a stinging effort straight at Keylor Navas.
PSG went even closer two minutes later, as an un-marked Zlatan Ibrahimovic's curling effort from 20-yards out sailed inches wide of the upright.
Madrid were dealt a blow of their own in the 33rd minute when Marcelo, who had to be taken due to an injury.
Rafael Benitez's men took the lead with their first meaningful opening in the 35th minute when Nacho Fernandez tapped home into the bottom corner, after Toni Kroos's had been deflected into the defender's path.
The visitors were unlucky not to be level a few minutes later when Rabiot controlled well before rattling the upright with a left-footed volley.
Navas came to Real's rescue shortly after the halftime break, as he pulled off a fine save to keep out Angel Di Maria's effort from distance.
The home side nearly doubled their advantage in the 72nd minute but Kevin Trapp was on hand to deny Isco with a fine stop at the back post.
It proved to be a busy second for the PSG goalkeeper and he had to be at his best once again in the 82nd minute, as he brilliantly kept out Kroos's stinging effort from distance.
PSG nearly snatched a point in the final stages of the game when Di Maria's impressive free-kick rattled the the top of the crossbar.
Madrid held on for the win, which secured their spot in the knockout phase and moved three points clear of PSG.
