Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 500th career goal as Real Madrid secured a 2-0 win over Malmo in their UEFA Champions League tie on Tuesday evening.
Los Blancos were still without the services of Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Danilo, James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale, who are all out injured.
The home side enjoyed an impressive start to the half and went close with a couple efforts from Tinnerholm and Rosenberg in the opening 10 minutes.
Ronaldo nearly broke the deadlock in the 16th minute when he combined with Karim Benzema, before firing a low effort towards the bottom corner, which Winland managed to keep out.
Los Blancos eventually opened the scoring in the 29th minute, as Ronaldo latched onto a pass from Isco, before firing an into the bottom corner.
Dani Carvajal nearly doubled Real's advantage just before the halftime break but volley from close range rattled the crossbar with Winland well beaten.
The visitors continued to search for a second goal and they were nearly rewarded in the 51st minute when Kovacic fired a low effort inches wide of the upright from the edge of the box.
Rafael Benitez decided to change things up in the final 20 minutes, as he withdrew Kovacic and Benzema to introduce Lucas Vasquez and Luka Modric.
Malmo nearly leveled matters in the 74th minute, when Rosenberg rose well to meet Tinnerholm's cross but the striker's header sailed inches wide of the post.
However, the home side were reduced to 10 men in the 78th minute when Yoshimar Yotun was shown his second yellow card of the game for a foul on Vaszquez.
Real were looking to make their numerical advantage count as Ronaldo turned well, before forcing Wiland into a fine low save in the 80th minute.
Ronaldo then sealed the win in the 89th minute when the Portuguese forward turned home Casemiro's cross, which also saw him equal Raul as the joint-leading scorer in the club's history.
