Date: 12 April 2017
Venue: Vicente Calderon
Antoine Griezmann scored the only goal of the game to hand Atletico Madrid a 1-0 win over Leicester City in their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie.
Riyad Mahrez and Danny Simpson were restored to the Foxes' line up, after starting on the bench in the loss to Everton over the weekend.
The hosts nearly broke the deadlock after just four minutes as Koke's effort from distance crashed against the woodwork with Kasper Schmeichel well beaten.
Leicester had their first opening after 26 minutes but Shinji Okazaki failed to connect with Christian Fusch's cross in the six-yard box.
However, Atletico were awarded a penalty a minute later after Marc Albrighton brought down Antoine Griezmann, who took the spot-kick and scored from 12-yards out, 1-0.
The Premier League champions, meanwhile, struggled to carve out any more clear-cut chances in the opening 45 minutes and went into the break trailing.
Leicester came out fighting in the second half and had a couple efforts at goal in the opening 10 minutes of the second half.
With the visitors struggling to carve out chance, Algerian striker Islam Slimani came on to replace the ineffective Jamie Vardy, before Atletico introduced Thomas Partey.
Diego Simeone's charges were in full control in the closing stages but were let down by their decision-making in the final third, as the score remained 1-0 at the full-time whistle.
