UEFA Champions League
Teams: AS Roma vs Liverpool
Date: 2 May 2018
Venue: Stadio Olimpico
The Italian side find themselves on familiar ground against the Reds, needing to overturn a three-goal away defeat for the second time this season. In the quarter-final, they did manage to turn their 4-1 first leg defeat against unbeaten LaLiga Barcelona leaders around and upset the Catalan giants 3-0 at home.
Klopp’s men will be warned by Barca’s experience in Rome, as well as their own in the first leg, when they conceded two late goals to take a 5-2 lead instead of a 5-0 advantage into the return fixture.
Liverpool are still unbeaten in Europe this season and could become the first English side to reach the Champions League final since Chelsea in 2012. Both teams have met five times previously, with the Reds winning thrice and only losing once.
All eyes will once again be on Liverpool’s Salah, who will face his former side for a second time in a week, having starred with two goals in the first leg at Anfield in the reverse fixture.
Here is how they line up:
AS Roma: Alisson; Florenzi, Manolas, Fazio, Kolarov; Pellegrini, De Rossi, Nainggolan; Schick, Dzeko, El Shaarawy.
Liverpool: Karius; Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, van Dijk, Robertson; Wijnaldum, Henderson, Milner; Salah, Firmino, Mané.
