The Poland international scored his Champions League goals number 44 and 45 in Bayern’s convincing 5-0 thumping of the Turkish giants.

In so doing, Lewandowski equaled and broke the personal UCL record of Drogba, who had netted 44 times during his career.

While Lewandowski only needed 67 games to reach Drogba’s tally, the Ivory Coast legend scored his 44 goals in 92 European games.

The 29-year-old now sits in 12th position in the overall ranking, but he could enter the top 10 with just one more strike.

However, Lewandowski is yet to receive a Champions League medal, while Drogba lifted the trophy in 2012 after scoring the 1-1 equalizer against the German giants before converting the final penalty to see Chelsea claim their only ever UCL title.

Overall, Lewandowski has now scored 29 goals in 33 appearances for Bayern this season.
