Scholes Slams Salah For Tearful UCL Exit

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has slammed Liverpool's African superstar Mohamed Salah for his tearful exit from the UEFA Champions League final after a challenge by Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos.

Salah picked up an injury to his shoulder and had to be replaced just 30 minutes into the game, which was still locked at 0-0 at the time, following the tackle by the Spaniard. The Egyptian, who scored 44 goals in all competitions for the Reds in the 2017/18 season, had to leave the pitch and could not hold back his tears as he did so.

Just a few minutes later, Los Blancos' Dani Carvajal was also replaced due to an injury that ruled him out of the rest of the game, and he also left the pitch devastated, while, after the final whistle, Liverpool shot-stopper Loris Karius could not hold back his disappointment following two massive errors that gifted Real their first and third goals in the game.

Scholes, who won two Champions League titles with United, has now hit out at Salah and Carvajal, saying players are too "sensitive" these days.

"I can understand Karius, I suppose, he's devastated at what's happened," the former England international said, as quoted by Manchester Evening News.

“But injuries are part of the game. If you go back years and you saw somebody crying on the pitch, they'd have had a whole load of stick for it.

"Now it's a different game, players are sensitive and they get upset easily."

Scholes famously missed the 1999 final between the Red Devils and Bayern Munich after picking up a suspension in the semi-final, but he insisted he was never close to tears despite missing the biggest game of his career.

"It's not going to make the booking go away. Obviously, I was disappointed but close to tears? No," he added.

"I don't think I have (cried on a pitch). Maybe when I was 11 or 12 and we lost the cup final or something."

Salah, meanwhile, has been ruled out for about three weeks, but suggested he will fight to be fit for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup.
