Achraf Hakimi, who was born in Madrid to parents of Moroccan descent and has represented Morocco three times so far, has been named in Zidane's 20-man squad for the trip to Dortmund.
However, the 18-year-old is yet to make his senior debut for Real, competing for a spot at right back with Dani Carvajal, who has racked up the most minutes for Los Blancos so far this season.
"I'm not concerned and we've got Achraf and Nacho, who can both operate in that role," Zidane said at a pre-match press conference when asked about the lack of rotation for Carvajal, as quoted on the club's official website.
"We're at the start of the season and Dani is a player that recovers quickly after games. It's important to follow a healthy lifestyle when you know that you've got games every three days, plus he's a young lad."
Carvajal also spoke about the competition from Hakimi, who has been included in Zidane's first team squad this campaign and could become the seventh African to feature for Los Blancos.
"Achraf is a lad who picks things up very quickly and there's clearly a reason why the gaffer has decided to bring him here," the Spaniard said.
"He'll be a great player, but competition doesn't make me a better player. I don't need competition from anybody, I myself am my best competition."
Real will face Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night, with the Bundesliga leaders yet to lose a game in the new season.
