Jose Mourinho has promised one of his stars he will be getting more playing time at Manchester United in the coming weeks after his impressive display in the clubs 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

The Portuguese tactician gave England international Luke Shaw his first start of the season as many regular first-choice players were rested ahead of the Manchester derby on Sunday.

The 22-year-old, who is expected to leave Old Trafford in January, put in a Man of the Match performance and received welcome praise from his manager after the fixture.

"Shaw put in a very positive performance, especially in possession," Mourinho said at a post-match press conference, as quoted by FourFourTwo.

"He created a lot of danger and created a lot of dangerous situations. It was no surprise that he was feeling it toward the end.

"He deserved a chance, and he will get more chances in the future."

Reports: Mourinho To Sell Three Man Utd Stars

Shaw has made only seven appearances for the Red Devils so far this season, accruing a total of 465 minutes all in all.

@kokodiko I can see how you would say that.... I mean, he is left footed after all. But here's how I see it..... When it comes to defenders, I think about the best attackers in the world and ask myself if the defender in question can cope.... eg: Can Shaw mark Neymar, Pedro, Coutinho or Di Maria? LOL I know you don't believe he can.... So there's the barometer I benchmark players on my friend but I hear you..... Let's agree to say he's capable but he's certainly not a star cause that would mean then that Marcelo is a galaxy..... Oh wait...... He is, in fact, a Galactico :-)
