'I Hope FC Barcelona Star Lionel Messi's Tradition Against Chelsea Continues!'
In the build-up to Chelsea's UEFA Champions League tie against FC Barcelona, Blues boss Antonio Conte has stated that he hopes Lionel Messi's curse against his side continues.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has failed to find the back of the net against the reigning Premier League champions on eight occasions so far, and Italian tactician Conte believes that if his team work together, they may be able to contain Messi once again.
"I hope to continue this tradition but, I repeat, we are talking about a fantastic player and we must have great respect. But at the same time we must try to be excited to play this type of game and this challenge," Conte said in a press conference, according to the Daily Express.
"We are talking about one of the best players in the world but, for sure, we have to work together, work with the team and not only with one player to try and stop him. Because I think that when we feel this type of challenge to man-mark (a player), Messi can become very dangerous."
The 30-year-old has made six appearances in the UEFA Champions League so far this season, scoring three goals and assisting one further strike.
