Mohamed Salah’s unfortunate injury and his subsequent tearful departure wrote the early headlines of the final between Real Madrid and Liverpool.

Both teams went into the half-time break tied at 0-0, but it was Karim Benzema, who opened the scoring following a blunder by Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius.

Sadio Mane’s equaliser for Liverpool was outshadowed by Bale’s stunning bicycle kick off the bench. The Welshman added his second after another costly mistake by Karius to hand Real a 3-1 victory in Kyiv.

The Reds shot-stopper left the pitch in tears, while the Los Blancos celebrated their historic third successive Champions League title.

Cristiano Ronaldo lifted his record-breaking fifth UCL trophy, while Zinedine Zidane became the first manager to win three consecutive Champions Leagues.

@mainama : I'm hurt man and very much so.I wanted Madrid to loose the final not necessarily because I'm a Liverpool fan but with some obvious reasons but on a serious note though I must admit that what Madrid players did after the final whistle by consoling the much devastated Liverpool keeper Karius for his horrow show was when his Liverpool teammates couldn't,for me that was a moment of pure brilliance,Madrid showed their level of professionalism and I salute them for their reactions towards Karius.
