FC Barcelona Boss Names Chelsea’s Two Main Threats Ahead Of UEFA Champions League Tie
After FC Barcelona drew reigning Premier League champions Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Blaugrana coach Ernesto Valverde was quick to highlight the threats the Blues pose for his side and pinpointed two players his team will need to be wary of.
The Spanish giants, who cruised through the group stage, finished ahead of Juventus and claimed 14 points in the six matches they played.
Chelsea were arguably one of the toughest opponents the Blaugrana could have ended up drawing in the next round of the competition, but according to Valverde, it’s a tie which will excite supporters of both teams.
"It's a hard draw for us, but we knew that nothing was going to be easy because there were excellent teams in the draw," Valverde told Barca TV.
"Tactically, they're outstanding and also very physical. With Morata, they have speed in attack and Hazard is very good between the lines. They're a strong team.
"Chelsea are the champions of the Premier League, but we will play with enthusiasm because, although it will be difficult, it's a very nice tie for us and the supporters. In that aspect, it's easy to motivate the players."
The first leg of this tie will take place on 20 February 2018 at Stamford Bridge, with the return fixture set to be played on 18 March at the Camp Nou.
