The Portuguese joins AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini as the player with most Champions League final appearances.
Tonight, is already Ronaldo’s sixth final – his fifth in four years with Real Madrid, in addition to his 2007/08 final victory with Manchester United. He also played in the 2013/14, 2015/16 and 2016/17 finals, which Los Blancos all won.
Maldini, meanwhile, played in five Champions League finals as well – in 1992/93, 1993/94, 1994/95, 2002/03, 2004/05 and 2006/07 – winning three of those.
Overall, the Italian legend has taken part in eight major European finals, but two of those (in 1988/89 and 1989/90, which Milan both won) were during the old format of the Champions League, known as European Champions Cup.
Maldini is the joint-record holder when it comes to most appearances in European Cup finals, with only Real legend Paco Gento also making eight final appearances.
