FC Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has finally responded to reports that Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique were involved in a bust-up after their UEFA Champions League exit.
The Catalan giants were knocked out of the Champions League after losing 3-0 to AS Roma on Tuesday evening.
According to Spanish Diario Gol, Pique was not pleased with Messi and felt he could have put in more effort in the second leg.
However, Valverde insists there was no bust up between the two stars and claims the squad have reacted well to the loss.
”I have nothing to say about that [Messi and Pique asking for explanations] mostly because nothing like that happened,” Valverde was quoted as saying by the Mirror.
”The team have reacted well since the game. We are in a difficult moment, possibly our second worst of the season after August [and the Supercopa de Espana defeats].
”We lost and we’re out of a competition that we were very excited about and do feel sorry for ourselves and the fans.
”But if we continue to dwell on that game and think about, we will keep losing.”
